Description

Hotel was nice and updated. Food was amazing lots of varieties. Very friendly staff and activities were entertaining. The excursions were a bit expensive but was sceneries to remember. The beach bar and lunch deck is very good and there are enough beach chairs available throughout the day, the downfall is the actual beach. It is not the resort's fault, but we had some rain and there was some garbage washing up from town.I'd only been to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and La Romana before this, and wasn't sure what to expect. There are apparently only six resorts in Samana, so it's a really big up and coming place for tourists to stay.I did the Roulette, which worked out great. The maid didn't really make the bed, but everything else was clean. Again, always chairs available. The elevator takes a long while to go up and down to get you, but you're on vacation, so who cares. There were also stairs leading to and from the beach you could take. The water was nice - lots of fish swimming around even in the shallows. There's free snorkeling and a beautiful little reef just off the shore to swim out to. TONS of starfish and colourful fish there. The last three trips I went to Cuba, so I expected better food from Dominican, based on what I'd experienced previously. Quebec. Workers were even hanging over roofs painting outside of buildings. Workers were even hanging over roofs painting outside of buildings. All bartenders so friendly. We were upgraded to a Villa room overlooking 2 smaller beaches, quite, private, serene. Stairs are there but all you have to do is call the shuttle. We got to know several local Samana locals and went 2 evenings to tnhe town of Samana as Iike to mingle. I can say I'm sure this was way more fun than sitting in a show. But to each his own, shuttle runs to 2am. Loved all the places we went, booked with Raymond Tours on beach and he treated us right. I did notice a lot of guest did not try to talk with the lovely local people or go towards the more local ends of beaches. To bad, some of the best trip memories come from those interactions. Samana Bay and the surrounding national park. The staff at the hotel were always courteous, helpful and incredibly hardworking. The buffet restaurant was of a very high quality ; of the three a la cartes only the Italian disappointed. The buffet restaurant was of a very high quality ; of the three a la cartes only the Italian disappointed. There were a number of swimming pools, ranging from the busy to the very chilled. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, though would benefit from a little maintenance. My only gripe relates to the charge for the safes in the room, which seemed like profiteering from guests' fear of theft. I have read reviews on here where ignorant people complain about locals using the hotels at weekends. Plenty of diversity and things to do, within the hotel facilities and recreational areas. Highly recommended if you want to chill for some days away from the routine.I was nervous about coming to this resort. Bye bye money. We did not fall for such shenanigans. ROOM SAFE: Unless you're in an upgraded room like us, your room safe IS NOT included in your stay. Which is ridiculous to say the least. Someone told us they are in the works of building a restaurant there, hence the mess. But be careful, there are locals there (some were rather mean), dogs and lots of garbage around. But I was VERY happy with the buffet selections. They have a different theme for every night. The Mexican, Chinese and Gala nights blew us away. Such elegant details went into their decorations and details. They mostly keep to themselves. The beach is still lovely. There is a private one on the other side, with a walkway. I mean everything is immaculately clean, all public spaces, rooms, grounds, pools, beaches. Workers were even hanging over roofs painting outside of buildings. All bartenders so friendly.
