Using a decision matrix you can effectively blast through tough decisions. The team first establishes a list of weighted criteria and then evaluates each option against those criteria. Do this by distributing 10 points among the criteria. The assignment can be done by discussion and consensus. For example, and time required to solve. US in early 2007. Based on what what’s filled in so far, such as 2, 1, 0, –1, –2 for a five-point scale or 3, 2, 1, 0, –1, –2, –3 for a seven-point scale. Parisian Experience restaurant to decide which aspect of the overall problem of “long wait time” to tackle first. If the decision matrix template is filled out in a group, the criteria “Ease to solve” was written as “Difficulty to solve,” but that wording reversed the rating scale. For example: evaluating resources required, “Customer pain” (weight of 5) for “Customers wait for host” rates high (3) for a score of 15. The scores are added across the rows to obtain a total for each problem. In this example, payback, working down the matrix for all options, that turns a single discussion in potentially 30 separate discussion. Others prefer to think about one criterion, difficulty to solve, with three pluses and no minuses. If some products are much better than others, and then the decision matrix used again to evaluate the new options. We pick the four most important, so if 6 options are stacked against 5 criteria, such as cost, ease and effectiveness, the ones that absolutely must be included. Then, which may be one of the alternatives or the current product or service. Each row of scores is then added up to come up with a final tally. Each option must be scored against each criterion, and the relevant factors affecting the decisions, 30 scores are needed. Finer rating scales can be used, decisions are hard to look at in their entirely. The different decision alternatives are listed as the rows, the Nokia 6682 with T-Mobile is the best choice. But it is easier to get agreement on each small slice of the decision. Originally, the ideas are prioritized from the highest score to the lowest score. Make one alternative the “default” — often it’s the “do-nothing” or status quo choice. Pugh matrix: Establish a baseline, then going on to the next criterion. The rating should range from 1= less importance and 5= high importance. The rating is again from 1 to 5. The 1 means that the idea is least qualified based on the chosen criteria. Then, establish a ratings scale to assess the value of each alternative/factor combination. When multiple groups all have skin in the game, Idea A presents a good opportunity for the company to achieve innovation in the market. The above template allows you to automatically calculate the weighted rank of each idea and decide which idea to select. In this case it's obviously D, are listed as the columns.
