We were told different prices each time and the last day we decided to stay on the beach and pay for the palapals. We were told by the front desk tht there was a $50 deal that if you spent $40 on food and beverage that you got the palapals for $10 dolors and the food covered the balance. The only thing that I was not happy with were the Concierge at the Hotel. I do not think they were affiliated with the hotel directly and gave poor directions for people who ahve never been there before. After an hour of dirving to find a restaruant they reccomended and starred on a really small map, when we returned to the hotel the next person provided us with a very detailed map specifically for that resaruant. They probably should have been able to tell us that. Outside of that everything was great.I would probably book myself through Marriott. I was thinking their would be a apple representative and there were none on the property. Mother transfers took too long - 1 hour. So we took a taxi back to airport that took only 20 minutes and 20 dollars.I would probably book myself through Marriott. Also, the front desk manager Angelina has mastered customer service to a masterful degree. Marriott Resort is our choice hotel. Last two visits have been at this hotel. This is our fifth visit to the island, and we wouldn't go anywhere else. Have stayed twice at Hyatt and once in a low rise hotel. Every one of them smiling and offering a greeting no matter what they are doing, regardless of the time of day. If they don't enjoy their job, they surely fooled me. The Marriott must be treating their employees right. Hermenia at the Tradewinds beach is an absolute gem. She was there four years ago, and we were delighted to find her still there. Still going out of her way, taking good care of us with a towel soaked in ice and eucalyptus, cold water throughout the day and reminders to go grab our lunch. Jasmine at the pool was wonderful also, remembering our drink order and addressing us by name which is amazing with all the people she waits on. The hotel could use a little update with new carpets but most importantly, it is extremely clean throughout. Hurricane Matthew tossed quite a bit of rocks and seaweed about, but the Marriott beach was cleaned up and back to pristine conditions before any of the other hotels in the area. We walked the beach each day and saw the progression as it was occurring.
