The luck of the draw has been altered so that applicants with a child in grades K-through 4 in the school, automatically get a seat in the incoming kidergarten class. Petrides, while no other school with a lottery had a cap, parents said. In 2008, the cap was increased to 20, but parents continued to push to have it removed altogether. Classes are large—up to 32 in elementary and 34 in high school. But children rarely get lost in the shuffle because the total enrollment of the school is small.
