You start with the chip between your thumb and index finger. Slide the chip up with your thumb. Then, at the same time, push your index finger down and your middle finger up in order to get ready to grab the chip. Then slide the chip into the space between your index finger and middle finger. When the chip is partially inserted, then you can push the chip up by lowering your middle finger and raising your index finger. However, if you want to practice poker chip tricks, it may not be so.
