10 weeks of poker - Poker Goals & Challenges -- Two Plus Two Poker ...

MTTs. At the start of 2013 i started off chasing SNE but unfortunately the high volume and hours took its toll and i had to quit at the end of January. I spent the next 5-6 months regrinding my losses. I've just been accpeted into an agency volunteering for teenagers.I'm also part of a 6 aside football team playing in goal on a weekly basis with the guys from my house. I stayed at home in Budapest, grinding out trying to get number 1 on pocket fives. I'll include coaching/videos on here too although I don't do much of that anymore. I had similar sentiments and played poker semi-pro. However working for 8 hours + getting home and playing for 3 was crushing me mentally, and I stopped. In the second year, I didn't really consider leaving work ever because I was dating my bosses daughter. I find it harder to pay attention to hands because the screen is monotonous compared to someone physically tossing out chips. I've completely abandoned the headphones in the last 6 months. Rec players like joking around, chatting etc. I like it too, but even for pros who would prefer silence, it's good to be approachable and crack the odd joke here and there to keep the table feom going quiet. Why not take the time to just talk to these people, you'd be surprised what you'd learn. Sometimes the guy is just a dentist and it's w/e but sometimes you meet some pretty cool people. The added benefit being you may be able to make some decent networking connections.I prepared for this Sunday almost like it was a champion boxing fight. I my hud wouldn't work, that was fixed after an hour or so but then stars lagged when I had 4bet with aces in two tables and my opponent had 5bet shipped for 60ish bbs on both tables in my highest buy in tournaments. Was so tough to take just watching me time out and then fold. Also had 88 in a 4bet pot on 88392 where he was def calling the river. I don't want in the 25k if anybody just wants a sweat then message me asap, no markup for readers of the blog. Have no idea how the field will be but my friend who is well up to date with this kind of stuff imagines it will be good value. There is about 5 river calls that were having a huge effect on me. I needed to conquer them, but to do that I needed to face them. Over the last 10 days I've tried to change my philosophy on poker altogether. At the end of the day if a professional athlete acted the way that I do then there is no way they could/would ever be successful. A little background story: In 2015 I successfully moved on to small stakes (100nl+). I was a small winner in bb/100, making ~3k/month in EV, but not a great player, just a bumhunter. I also had multiple mental game leaks that I managed to fix. Last November things exploded. I was BE at 100z at the start of the year but with some good coaches I've managed to improve a lot and beat 200z over a small sample. I figured I'd add my story to the mix. I am currently posting a thread on 2 plus 2 with the same title. This thread documents my live poker career and my goals in live cash games. I was forced to play at bovada as I'm a u.s. Citizen. I sports bet too often on there and lost too much money and decided to pull my roll off and play live at my local casino in Pittsburgh pa. I live a home with my parents still after I graduated college. I am 24. I took 500 bucks out to just play poker with and it took off from there. I ended up blinking the third tourney I played live for 1k. Since then I gridded 1/3 on a short roll. Long story short with some run good I ran this roll up to 15k. I am soon going to take the next step and live on my own and play for a living. I have since put 10k into a savings and have a simple br rule. I keep about 3500 to 4k as my working br and everytime I hit 5k I put 1k into the savings account. So far I really haven't hit any huge swings. Just 3 to 6 bi swings. I like to keep at least 40 bi for that level. I know I didn't practice good br management in the beginning but hey I took a shot. 2/5 doesn't run at the rivers every night either. Job at the moment. And currently I'm under my dad's health insurance until I'm 26. I am very fortunate for that. I do help coach a college baseball team n the spring but I get paid very little for that and obviously there are no benefits.
