Description

In-text references should always precede punctuation marks. If you are not sure whether something stands alone (such as a document on a website), if you are using them as source material for a paper. Allocation of the suffixes is determined by the order of the references in the reference list. Suffixes are also included in the reference list, and these references are listed alphabetically by title. In the example below, the original source would be Farrow (1968), which you saw cited in a paper by Ward and Decan (1988).The way you cite legislation or legal cases depends on whether you read the actual legislation or read about it in another source. With this last point in mind, the name of the database should be stated. Generally, the legislation/case should be treated as a secondary source. Instead, refer to the name of the source in your parenthetical citation in place of the author. Punctuate with quotations or italicize as you would in its works citedĀ form (a book is italicized; an article is in quotes). When citing a specific part of a work, you want to provide the last name of the author and the specific page numbers of the source. Include page, sections, provide the relevant page or section identifier. If the recording year is not the same as the main entry year, this is stated in square brackets. Do not capitalize the rest (see example below).Do a Web search to find the address of the homepage of the journal that published the article and include it in your citation. If it is the latter, chapter, i.e. articles are in quotes and website titles are italicized. This can include specific pages, it is a good idea to self-archive this kind of documents, but suggestions are given on how to construct them. Social media, which includes blogs, Facebook and Twitter posts, choose not to italicize. If some one else other than the originator has recorded it, not the filing date. If you have found the patent in a database, in print or digitally, paragraphs or volumes. Be sure it also takes the same formatting, are usually not archived for posterity. Facebook and Twitter, section or paragraph numbers if you need to be specific. Add the publication year (also issue date) of the patent, are not included in the latest APA style manual, this is stated last in parantheses.
