Woodfire, You will find the "Wine Bar", a lively bar that attracts a dynamic crowd and features an unparalleled wine list, an impressive offering of wines by the glass as well as small plate food offerings. Our favorite was the bacon wrapped shrimp, lobster bisque, and my husbands Tomahawk steak. Our server did an excellent job with suggestions on items to try, having our drinks always full, and checking our table to make sure we did not lack for anything. This is the second time we had this server. First time we had him, we thought he was bad because it was a larger group, but it turns out he is just a bad server overall. Even though it's inside the casino, you don't get that casino floor vibe. You can go to Woodfire without ever stepping on the casino floor, avoiding the crowds and smoke. The only thing I didn't care for was the very large and soggy croutons on the wedge salad. Low lit and quiet. Nice little gem in the casino. Surf and turf and Salmon were excellent. They accomodated my request for a dairy-less meal with zero hassle. Acts" include tavern-inspired appetizers such as deep-fried pickle chips and the "Loaded Tots," tater tots topped with cheddar and mozzarella cheese, bacon, green onions and served up with a trio of dipping sauces. Industrial warehouse detailing is played against fun and decidedly modern architectural vignettes. The bar showcases a large, specially curated collection of rock memorabilia and artwork. The walls are lined with an impressive array of flat-screen televisions, making it a spectacular place to watch the game when there isn't a live band rocking the room on the corner stage. The room offers a great view of the stage from the bar to the tables, with not a bad seat in the house for live entertainment. Star Casino is in Mulvane, Kansas and is open daily 24 hours. Kansas Star Casino was working along side of some of the best people i have ever worked with. Management was mediocre at best, not saying that i disliked management. There can be a lot of turn-over in staffing due to call-ins and the point system used to track absences. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing someone you've worked with and coached move up and be promoted. Exposed to a variety of custom with many personalities. Developing great relationships with staff. Hours are horrendous, they treat employees like a number and the mentality is you can easily be replaced. Totally unorganized and dysfunctional. The leadership team is a joke, no one respects them because they don't treat others with respect. Very hostile work environment.I was a poker dealer in the Kansas Star Casino poker room. I learned how to professionally deal a table game that I have been dealing for ten years. I feel that I got along rather well with my superiors and fellow employees.I think the hardest part of the job was when my shift was over every day. Somewhat difficult to leave when I could still be working and making more money. The most enjoyable part of the job, mainly was the interaction with the customers. I loved how different each and every customer was that sat at my table. No care about you as a person, only that you are there w/o concern why you can't be. The farther 'down' the ladder you are, seems to get worse.
