However, a later psychological test for Farkle raises the possibility that he might have Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism. Terrified over this, he invites his parents and Lucas over to the Matthews' family brownstone for consolation. The next day, Farkle invites Smackle to meet his friends at Topanga's, all of which assure her that if she attends John Quincy Adams that she'll have friends who support and understand her. Farkle holds Smackle's hands once again. Maya and Lucas emphasize the beauty of being unique as they rally around their friend Farkle Minkus, who may be on the autism spectrum. The school guidance counselor, Miss Oben, comes with test and aptitude results for Farkle and the class. She tells Farkle what he already knows, that he's a genius, but says they want to run some more tests. Maya, Lucas points out that Farkle he loves her and Riley equally so he should split it between them. Lucas pretends to propose to Riley, but it's just so she will say yes to Farkle. Smackle interrupts their phony wedding when she arrives at the party. They should not put themselves into categories, but instead they should focus on what they put into the world. Asperger's Syndrome. The kids don't think Farkle's behavior is anything other than him being Farkle, but Farkle is sure he has Asperger's. Jennifer and Stuart explain Farkle's main concern was coming over here to explain this to his friends. When Lucas talks through some of the symptoms, Farkle thinks he's got them all - awkwardness, a blind focus on topics, inability to understand love/emotions. Maya thinks he can stop those behaviors if he wants. Cory and Topanga offer their support to Stuart and Jennifer and are sure they'll get through this. Stuart is smart and Jennifer is tough. His friends say they would mind, but he would still be their friend. Smackle shows up seeking the attention of Farkle, who spent the day with her at Einstein Academy. After making him wear one of her school's blazers, she admits to finding him even more attractive. Things are awkward at first, but Farkle starts to open up about what's new with him. When Farkle explains he may have Asperger's Syndrome she seems intrigued. Farkle is convinced that this possibility may be too much for her, and would drive her away from him, but Smackle says she would never leave. As the kids go to class, Miss Oben asks to speak to Farkle alone. When Farkle returns to class, he asks for Farkle time. Farkle talks to the kids about autism and Asperger's syndrome. Farkle thanks his friends for the way they treat him, and for studying up on autism when he was worried about it. Smackle realizes this inferior school is the right place for Farkle, but not for her so she leaves. Farkle. She feigned insecurity over her looks, when she asked Maya and Riley for a makeover, but ultimately decided to keep her new appearance. Academically, Smackle and Farkle consider themselves each other's arch nemesis. She then swallows her pride when she realizes there are some things that can't be taught in a textbook. Meets I Am Farkle begins in Cory’s classroom. During his lecture, the guidance counselor walks in and asks to speak with Farkle. She wants to share the results of his IQ and aptitude test. As the bell rings, the rest of the class heads out into the hallway. She says there will be. Cory suggests to Farkle that gifted and talented schools, like Einstein Academy, might approach him about transferring to their school. Topanga’s. Stuart Minkus says, “the Minkuses have always been “simple, incredibly rich people.” The writers remind us that the Minkus family has a lot of money. Each time we either see one of Farkle’s parents, or hear them referenced in a episode, we’re reminded that they have a lot of money. I can’t help but believe the writers are setting us up for something later on involving the Minkus family and their money. It prevents us from using our gifts and abilities to impact the world. Asperger’s, Lucas begins to do some research and shares some information with the rest of them. Lucas names off some symptoms of Asperger's, such as social awkwardness, narrowed interests, and discomfort with being touched or receiving affection. One thing both Cory and I are share is our firm believe in the power of love. Love it most important thing we have. Love makes friendships and relationships worth all pain and heartache that is associated with them. Love is what makes life worth living. Farkle doesn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to experience love, and I wouldn’t want him to either. They really showed the strength of the friendships between the main characters of the show. In a time of deep uncertainty for Farkle, all he wants to do is be with his friends. No matter what the test results say, Riley, Maya, and Lucas all want to be there for Farkle and support him. I loved the bay window scene in particular. We haven’t gotten an intimate scene between the core four in a location other than school or Topanga’s in a while. Farkle as an over-achiever and a very unique student, whose intelligence his teacher Cory (Ben Savage) appreciates and encourages.
