Tascam CD-RW900SL - What internal drive?

I do wish it had balanced inputs but can't beat features for the price. DV-RA1000HD, which I have modified with a PATA to SATA converter, M-DISC optical burner and internal CF (replacing the IDE hdd). I've had write errors every now and then (not very often for as much as I use it); but, nothing that couldn't be overcome. I just think it's not a very well-designed machine, and while they sold it as a quick-and-dirty way to dub CD-to-CD, the reality is that it never worked well. In truth, the drives of that era weren't great, and there were a lot of write errors. Every other feature seems to be the same as the previous model. I have not had the blurry screen problem. CD quality mixes every time with no mistakes or blips. CD-RW 900 and the 900 SL, and the 901 as well. It has a blurry screen, with mostly yellow bars, numbers and such, and it is hard to distinguish, at far away or close up. It is the worst screen I have ever seen on any equipment I have ever owned in 40 years. Screens should be bright and clear and distinct. The Tascam people clearly failed the people who buy this product. Poor peice of equipment, and it will disapoint you when you see the screen and the blur it gives off, not to mention the cd tray sounds really loud when opening and closing, and rough. The meters also use a peak hold that makes it easy to set the levels. A key board can be used to add text or titles to the CD. This CD recorder out performs my Nakamichi tape decks. Anyway, the levels went to the ragged edge of 0 db, but never into the red zone. Playback of the recorded disc was perfect. I was able to play it back on an old Panasonic portable player from 1993, and while it played fine, when skipping to different tracks, on a few tracks it seemed to take a lot of time going back and forth between reading the TOC and finding the track. Anyway, rather than use the automatic track function, I decided to just insert each track break manually by hitting the record button between tracks. Using these are just like using tapes, for all intents and purposes. I plan on using them to do the direct recording from the source, which allows me to re-record anything that gets botched. Then, once the recording is finalized, I’ll then use it as a master, to transfer the recording to a good quality CD-R. I can then erase the master, and reuse it for subsequent recordings.
